Firework Safety Guidelines
At Sastha Crackers, your safety is as important to us as your celebration. Fireworks bring immense joy, but they must be handled with care and responsibility. Please follow these essential safety tips to ensure a fun, safe, and memorable experience for everyone.
The Do's (Safe Practices)
- Adult Supervision: Always ensure children are strictly supervised by adults when lighting crackers. Never let young children handle fireworks.
- Open Spaces: Light fireworks only in open, outdoor areas away from houses, dry grass, vehicles, and flammable materials.
- Keep Water Handy: Always keep a bucket of water, a hose, or sand nearby for emergencies and to douse used fireworks.
- Wear Cotton Clothes: Wear well-fitting, thick cotton clothing. Avoid synthetic or loose garments like dupattas that can catch fire easily.
- Proper Lighting Technique: Use an agarbatti (incense stick) or a long sparkler to light crackers from a safe distance. Light only one firework at a time.
- Safe Distance: Step back and maintain a safe distance immediately after lighting a cracker.
- Footwear: Always wear closed-toe shoes or slippers while bursting or standing near fireworks.
The Don'ts (What to Avoid)
- Never Hold in Hand: Do not light crackers (like rockets or bombs) while holding them in your hand. Always place them on flat, stable ground.
- Don't Bend Over: Never lean your face or body over a firework while lighting it.
- No Indoors: Never ignite fireworks indoors, inside tents, or inside containers (like glass bottles, tin cans, or metal pots).
- Duds are Dangerous: If a firework fails to ignite, do not attempt to relight it. Wait 15-20 minutes, then safely soak it in a bucket of water.
- Keep Away from Pockets: Never carry fireworks in your pockets, as friction could accidentally cause them to ignite.
- Protect Pets & Elders: Animals and the elderly are highly sensitive to loud noises. Keep your pets safely indoors and avoid lighting loud bombs near hospitals or quiet zones.
After the Celebration
Once the fun is over, safely dispose of the used fireworks by soaking them in a bucket of water before throwing them in the trash. This prevents any smoldering wrappers from starting accidental fires.
